What does it mean to be from Northern Ireland today? What futures can we imagine when surrounded by history? View From Here present four plays by established and emerging playwrights who use dark humour and engaging storytelling to forge a new path through the post-industrial landscape, to explore our relationship to the past and what it means for our identity today. The evening’s works include excerpts from Half a Glass of Water by David Ireland and Lally the Scut by Abbie Spallen, and new plays North Street by Alice Malseed and The Dinner Party by Patrick Dunlea.
View From Here is a series of weekend festivals celebrating the rich seam of playwriting talent that runs through all regions of the UK. Each weekend presents a selection of new-writing, from short plays to extracts of full-length productions, that showcases the best a region has to offer.
Join dramaturg Hanna Slattne, playwrights Alice Malseed and Patrick Dunlea, and Director Katherine Nesbitt as they ask, when the representation of a place consists of so many stories of conflict, how do you write an alternative narrative?
