Sharp Teeth Theatre bring together theatre, storytelling, poetry and music to create a night of riotous Sunday fun.

They’ve had raps about stolen bikes, poems about cottaging, performances from drag kings, and an improvised piece about Lance Armstrong getting lost in a bathtub of meat, amongst many others. This month’s fabulous acts are…

Gecko

(watch video)

Gecko is a North London based artist. His playful lyrics cover the big things in life; think Grant Mitchell, libraries and guanabana fruit juice to name but a few. Gecko has previously appeared at Glastonbury, Bestival, on BBC Radio 1, 6 Music and BBC London. In 2016 he took his debut tour ‘A Lizard Goes a Long Way’ to the Edinburgh Fringe. He has shared stages with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Robin Ince, Josie Long, John Hegley, and Billy Bragg.

Ellie Showering

(watch video)

Musical Director of Insane Root Theatre Company, Ellie is a Bristol based singer, performer and composer who specialises in a capella and music in a theatrical context. Her collaborative work has ranged from intimate shows designed for an audience of one to sold out theatre tours across the UK and Europe. Looking to push the limitations of the human voice, she actively seeks out challenging and engaging vocal and performance work. Ellie is also a multi-instrumentalist with a keen interest in body percussion.

Stephanie Kempson and Rowan Evans

“Once upon a time, or, rather, not… ”
Stephanie Kempson is the long time host of Sharp Teeth and a storyteller. She’s told tales at Bristol Old Vic, The Wardrobe Theatre, Valleyfest, and Camden People’s Theatre and written for Bristol Old Vic Young Company, Tobacco Factory Young Theatre Makers, Mercurial Wrestler, Part Exchange Co and more. Her spoken and sung work ricochets from the surreal and improvised, to the lyrical and melancholic. Tonight she’ll be peeling apart a story we think we know, to find another adventure hidden within it: what happened to Sleeping Beauty while she was asleep?

Stephanie will be accompanied by musician Rowan Evans (Fen Theatre, Tremolo Theatre, 4th Project) who’ll be mixing pre-recorded music and live, in a gorgeous mix of dark, ambient folk music.

Darcy, Rooke and Hinds

Darcy, Rooke and Hinds are a full female comedy threesome (Soho Theatre Young Company grads). With big props and dance moves to boot, these energetic comedians present a wonderfully wacky mix of sketches, songs and dances.
