Now even her bestie Isabelle is having a baby shower and Catherine has to wade through yet another living Pinterest hell and play that repulsive chocolate nappy game with bizarre guests Maggie, Georgina and Willow. Can you stay friends when you’re in completely different places?
Nevernatal is a charming comedy that brings five women together at a baby shower that tests the strength of friendship over the course of the afternoon. Although lighthearted and quippy, it presents their varied perspectives on the decision to have children; examines the disconnect when friends don’t hit typical milestones at the same time and the fracture point when they can’t be happy for each other’s version of happiness.

Nevernatal is presented by Writer Freya Magee and Director Charlotte Cattrall, who were first friends and now creative partners. They share a passion for theatre that is funny, real and thought-provoking, and love working with all-female-identifying casts and creative teams. Freya first wrote and directed Nevernatal at the Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2019 before adapting it with Charlotte for a UK audience. Together they brought the show to Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2023 to four star reviews and emotional audience responses that compel them to continue the journey of this evolving show.

Freya Magee
Freya Magee is an Australian writer and creative living in London. She has been a contributing author on two plays published by Maverick Musicals and Nevernatal is her debut work as a playwright. Freya’s conversational style of writing presents relatable, contemporary themes about human behaviour with a mix of quirky satire and emotional precision. After completing Wildcard Theatre’s course Writing a One Woman Show, she is now unsurprisingly writing a one woman show titled Reboot about television revival culture. Outside of theatre she publishes stories, essays, poems and songs online, occasionally performing them at OneTrackMinds storytelling event, Spoken Not Stirred poetry night and Bright Nights music showcase.
