Prentice Productions and Theatre503 present
A powerful, queer coming of age tale set in the rural north. When David’s estranged mother dies suddenly, they are forced home to confront their past. As David fumbles through the initial grieving process accompanied by an unenthused undertaker, childhood memories invade David’s thoughts. This reflection on the past brings new focus to the queer adult life they lead.
Join David on a witty, tender, heartfelt journey to queer adulthood. A new solo play about regaining your spark and moving on from the past. ‘MERMAID’ is the story of joy, naivety, and the magic of a queer childhood that encourages us all to seek out that same power and euphoria today.
Mermaid combines clever comedy packed into a tender and heartfelt story. Join David on a journey to rediscovering their queer childhood joy and making peace with the changes in their life.
Connor McCreedy, Alex Jackson and Rebecca Prentice are united by a love of high quality queer theatre, new writing and fresh perspectives on the queer experience. ‘Mermaid’ is Connor’s debut play and he and Alex – Co-Founder of Exeter Fringe Festival and Junior Associate at the King’s Head Theatre – are excited to bring ‘Mermaid’ to life together. Rebecca, who produces under Prentice Productions, is keen to highlight queer, Northern voices and to explore themes of grief alongside queer joy.
