“I think people are plasters.
I think we use them to cover up the holes we have.
And so when someone loves us it’s like we glue
them on.
And when they leave us, it’s… it feels like we’re
going to die.”

While rehearsing a romantic play, two actors become trapped in a world shaped by Tessa’s mind, where performance and reality begin to blur, forcing her to face her memories and the fragments of herself that still live inside them.

Running time: 50 mins (no interval)

Emma Tadmor

Emma Tadmor is a writer, director, and actor. Her debut play Plasters premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2021 to a sold-out run, described by The Stage UK as "a compelling cryptic crossword of a play," by The Edinburgh Reporter as "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf for the New-Text Generation," and by BroadwayBaby as a "carousel of memories and heartbreaks." Her subsequent work includes Charlie (TheaterLab, 2022) and Hamlet Split Apart, a 55-minute reimagining of Shakespeare through the lens of dissociative identity disorder, which premiered Off-Broadway at The Flea Theater in 2023 and returns to New York at AMT Theater in fall 2026. Her writing, which explores survival, memory, and the politics of voice, made her a semifinalist for the Cherry Lane Playwrights Collective, selected by Annie Baker from nearly 1,800 applicants in 2026. She is the founder and Artistic Director of RJ Theatre Company.
