Miriam works in finance in Singapore. Her sister Jade is settling into post-uni life while working in a London cafe. They haven’t spoken in two years.
But when their Mum finally remarries, they are forced back together, to pack up their childhood home side by side. As they sift through objects, from football trophies to pitch pipes to wigs to toy poodles, the play leaps through their childhood.
Will they find a way to reconnect and free themselves from the past? exist together in the present, whilst both accepting and freeing themselves from the past?
DEADHEADS looks at the complexity and joy of loving someone while also allowing them to grow and change.

Maddie Lynes
Maddie Lynes is a playwright, screenwriter, and newly-qualified English teacher working at a comprehensive in London. Her plays have been staged at fringe venues in London, Cambridge and Edinburgh, centring on moments of fracture and connection in personal relationships. Her first play WHEN WE WERE NORMAL, a ‘tender coming-of-age story’ (The Scotsman), first toured in 2022 and was later revived at the Rose Theatre Gallery in 2024. Her second play HER VERY MANY FACES, won the Methuen Marlowe Other Prize in 2022. It was performed at the Corpus Christi Playroom and commended for its ‘intelligent exploration of a lonely mind’ (Varsity). Lynes’ short film SWIM, which she wrote and directed, won the inaugural Cambridge Creative Screenwriting Competition in 2021 and premiered the following year at St John’s Picturehouse. DEADHEADS is the second play by Lynes to be produced by Three Sisters. It previewed at the Old Red Lion, where it was selected by Assembly for this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.
