Three girls. Three monologues. Meet Geri, Beth and George, a set of talking heads for a generation of frustrated Tinderers.

Tinder471

Cosily hidden away in her DIY den in her parents’ spare room, Geri jabs increasingly irritably at her new Tamagotchi. Why is this so bloody difficult? Though equally, why does she care so much?

My Son is in the Kitchen Eating a Biscuit

Coked up Beth sits in her room watching Gemma Collins clips. She’s by herself, Sophie’s just fled – but why?

Sausage Roll Moment

It’s Christmas day and George sits alone on the sofa dwarfed by a giant tree, surrounded by Greggs wrappers. Joel’s gone out for more cans. He’s lovely, he’s got lovely teeth. And knees. But who does George really want to spend Christmas with? And why aren’t they here?

Feeling Gorgeous Theatre want to centre characters that are truthful products of what it is to exist in London today, that are recognisable to an audience who live here, in work that is for now. Interrogating ideas about loneliness, intimacy and the swipe swipe sensibility of contemporary dating, A Tinder Trilogy returns after a sell out run as part of last year’s Camden Fringe. You can follow them on Twitter here.

Reviews

From Annie Jenkin’s In Lipstick:

“Isolation is gilded in glitter in Annie Jenkins’ tender debut. Jenkins has an ability for writing care within her characters, and we feel the ache of the effort they invest. Under the comedy bravado, each long for an intimacy that isn’t laced with fear.”
The Guardian

“Moments of pure invention and theatrical brilliance Jenkins keeps such a tight grip on her audience that you can barely believe this is her debut play. It’s the sheer bombastic weirdness of In Lipstick that will linger in the mind… a memorable and entertaining debut play from a writer full of promise.”
– Exeunt

“A hugely ambitious debut play from Annie Jenkins about two women locked in a suffocating friendship. The manic, possessive, motor-mouthed Cynthia sparkles and crackles.”
– Time Out
