This workshop will use The LeftBehinds co-created by Ross Willis and Ned Bennett. The LeftBehinds is a Sci-Fi Western that was commissioned for the National Theatre’s Secondary Schools Tour in 2025. The script will be sent to you ahead of the session.
The workshop will look at approaches for staging bombastic, high-action stage directions.
By placing an emphasis on an active, collaborative process with a conscious approach to integrating different production elements (primarily movement and design)- the exercises will look at how balance can be found between expressionism and narrative clarity.
The workshop will cover:
An Introduction to Viewpoints (improvisational movement methodology)
Exercises for making material for staging complex sequences
Exercises for editing work in a rehearsal process
Participants will be asked to read the one-act script in advance of the workshop.
