503Studio Masterclass: From Stage To Screen
This session will explore both the craft of screenwriting, as well as the opportunities as a writer for developing your career beyond your initial play either through screen adaption or writing original content. We will consider the adaptive process of working from stage to screen, and developing new scripts and projects specifically for screen. Finally, we will look at how a new screenwriter can strategise their career in order to maximise on the changing commissioning landscape.
Theatre503 has a history of writers going on to write for TV and film including three of our facilitators Alice Birch (Lady Macbeth), Jon Brittain (The Crown) and Vinay Patel (Murdered by My Father (BAFTA nominee) and Doctor Who), and is becoming an every more open opportunity given the need for great storytellers in all media.
We have a limited amount of bursary places available via our Share the Drama scheme, thanks to the support of Dynamis for long term unemployed/those claiming income support/jobseekers allowance. Please contact us if you are eligible for a bursary and would like to take part in the course.
