Week 2: ADVANCED STRUCTURE (Tools and processes to structure your work which go beyond classic 3 act/5 act structure.)
Week 3: DEVELOPING YOUR WRITING (Exercises and ideas to help you improve your dialogue, scene delivery and characterisation.)
Week 4: DIFFERENT FISH NEED DIFFERENT BAIT (A session looking at how to find the best form for your idea.)
Week 5: THE HUSTLE (The business side of being a freelance writer.)

Sam Potter is a writer and director. She trained at Dartington College of Arts, Trinity College Dublin, the National Theatre and the RSC. As a director, she has worked at Hampstead Theatre, RSC, National Theatre and Glyndebourne Opera. Her debut play, Mucky Kid, which opened at Theatre503 in 2013, earned her a Most Promising New Playwright Offie nomination and a place on the 2015 Channel 4 Playwrights’ Scheme. In 2015/16 she was Papatango’s Resident Playwright, supported by the BBC Performing Arts Fund, and was one of five writers invited to take part in the Tricycle’s inaugural New Writers’ Programme, NW6. In 2017, she was appointed Writer in Residence at the North Wall in Oxford and her play Charlie Charlie reached the Top 40 of the Bruntwood Award and was longlisted for the Verity Bargate Award. In January 2018 her play Hanna opened at the Arcola, produced by Papatango, before embarking on a UK tour. In 2020, her play Nighthawk was longlisted for the inaugural Women’s Prize for Playwriting.
