Katie and Roni have been best friends ‘forever’. The sort of friendship where you share
your dreams, your lipstick, and your most embarrassing thoughts. Then suddenly, Katie cut Roni out of her life, without telling her why. Now, they meet again, by chance, in the bedroom of Katie’s dead brother.
Tense and heartbreaking, 1.17 am, or until the words run out is a new two-hander from writer Zoe Hunter Gordon, exploring female friendships and the impact of trauma. As the two girls wrestle with whether their friendship can survive when nothing will ever be the same again, the play asks – can you ever really know another person? And who stands to lose when we assume things about those we ‘know best’?
Previously longlisted for the Theatre503 International Playwriting Prize and reaching the top 10% of BBC Writers Room Drama submissions, this is a bold and moving new play about how friendships change when life experiences diverge, and what we risk when we cling to our versions of others.
1.17 am, or until the words run is written by award-winning Playwright and Screen Writer Zoe Hunter Gordon (BETTER, CECILIA), Directed by Sarah Stacey (Fringe First Winner for BEASTS, shortlisted for the JMK Award) and Produced by Rachel Thomas (THE LAST ONE, SNAIL).

Zoe Hunter Gordon
Zoe is a writer for stage and screen. Her work has been shortlisted for the Yale Drama prize,
longlisted for the Theatre 503 International Playwriting Prize, and OFFIE nominated. She has trained on the Soho Theatre Writers Course, Bristol Old Vic New Voices, Easter Residency at North Wall, & the Lyric Writer’s Course. Her work for screen has been broadcast on the BBC, played at Oscar & BAFTA qualifying festivals internationally, and been funded by the BFI. Her plays have been praised as ‘extremely well written’ (CECILIA, London Theatre 1) and 'superbly crafted' (GAP IN THE LIGHT, The Stage).
