Theatre503 is where it all starts for a writer. We put more first time writers on the stage than any other theatre in the country, if not the world, while making our work affordable…but we can’t do it without your help.

Thanks to our generous friends and supporters, in 2023 we:

• Read and received 1466 International Playwriting Award submissions.
• Read 1000+ unsolicited and Rapid Write Response scripts.
• Received 380 503Five submissions.
• Mentored 140+ writers.
• Premiered 16 plays.
• Received 12 awards nominations.
• Received 1 commendation for services to new writing.
• 450 participants across 50 workshops and masterclasses.
• 27 Share The Drama bursaries offered.

We are entering one of the most exciting moments in our history – winning a new space at Nine Elms and planning to make our Latchmere space physically accessible. We’ve wiped out hire fees for visiting companies and are committed to ensuring access to our work is affordable via our Share the Drama scheme, which subsidises our tickets and offers places on our 503Studio: Online Writers Programme to those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to participate.

You may not know that we are a registered charity we also do not receive a guaranteed annual statutory grant from Arts Council England. We rely on donations from individuals and organisations to help us sustain the range of opportunities we provide for writers and creatives across the UK, and the world. We need your support to help us work with and platform over 100 early career writers, and more than 1,000 freelance artists each year.
